About 160 Years ago, our firm started serving the Warwick Valley in NY State.

Today we are committed to the same local service started in Warwick, offered to clients throughout the US.

• We are one of the oldest agencies in the entire country, with our roots back to 1864.

A little history (and what’s in a name)

… a few decades ago (in the previous century), well know insurance industry visionaries Richard and Keith Savino met John Sanford and they together decided to create Warwick Resource Group, along with John Sanfords’ partner at the time Eric Nilsestuen.  The agency in Warwick NY, John W. Sanford & Son Inc was a local insurance firm recognized as the diamond standard in Orange County, NY.  The Sanford family was filled with their own visionaries, having been part of the creation of the phone company (Warwick Valley telephone) and the local bank (Warwick valley savings) , among other historical milestones. John Sanford is active to this very day.

The agency quickly grew and became a leader in technology.  Our first online client portal was introduced in 2002, and we won many awards. In the early 2000’s we began to use the tagline, the future of insurance since 1864. A nod to our continual commitment to a leading client experience.

After a celebration of our first 150th Anniversary, our agency decided it was time to relaunch and create a new company for the next 150 years, and that company was christened:  “Broadfield Insurance Group”.  Our name reflects our “broad” and welcoming approach to our client’s needs, combined with our agricultural roots over 150 years ago, the term “field” … and you have “Broadfield”.

Our formula for success is simple, personal service combined with the choices that representing many insurance companies brings. Our clients all know their service staff on a first name basis, and generally know the Agency Principals as well. Our vast carrier selection means we offer many choices to fit almost any budget. After hours, when an emergency strikes, it’s these very same people who answer your calls, 24 x 7. We live where you live, and that’s what makes us special.

Our core Specialties in the Construction Insurance, Technology Insurance, Cyber Liability, Cannabis Insurance, Agriculture, Restaurants and Hospitality Insurance, Municipality, Professional, and Logistics industry’s are widely recognized by local community’s trade associations and the industry in general.

Our Agency Principals are committed to the industry, and community. We serve on many local and national boards, including Professional Insurance Agents (PIA),  Network of Vertafore Users (NetVU), and AIMS (The Certified Professional Insurance Agents) as well as industry Niches such as the NY Builders and Remodelers Association.

Our community involvement includes local Rotary and local Chambers of Commerce. Our office supports many local charities and events.

Our principals Richard and Keith Savino have been Presidents of both the PIANY and PIANJ state associations, respectively.

• Keith has been president of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (2018 to 2019).
• Richard Savino currently serves as President of PIA National (2023 to 2024).

Never in the 90+ year history of the esteemed trade association for insurance professionals has two brothers served in two distinct states and both get elected to the same national role !

Our firm and it’s principals have clearly earned the respect and support of their peers.

Broadfield Insurance today has grown on a tradition of service, knowledge and quality of carriers. Our roster of carriers more than tripled in this century. This is reflective of our growth and commitment to providing updated products for our clients.

In 2017 we committed to become founding partners of pcf insurance services. We grew quickly to a top 100 brokerage firm in 2018, then top 20 for 2020, and recently 11th largest brokerage in the USA.  There are over 35,000 Independent agencies today, so this is quite the accomplishment.

We are across the U.S with amazing partner offices in most states. Today we proudly offer  Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, Professional Lines, Employee Benefits and more through almost every major insurance carrier in the their respect markets.  We could never have grown without our dedicated staff and clients, many who are with us for multiple generations.  For this we are most proud.
